Oppia is a free, online learning platform to make quality education accessible for all. This project started by working on "404 Not Found inside exploration player/lesson player for resource used in midi-js for Oppia." Later, we moved on to working on " [BUG]: TODO(sll): Prevent duplicate tags from being added. #20447". And then finally we created our own project from scratch using Angular, Typescript, and Nodejs, called Shiny Tracker. This game companion app helps players catch a rare subset of Pokemon.

What tools did you use to create your project?

  • figma
  • typescript

How much experience does your group have? Does the project use anything (art, music, starter kits) you didn't create?

CodeDay Labs team mentored by Milton Wong. We are a team of 3rd year Computer Science students attending local universities. We worked together by pair-programming virtually for about 20 hours per week for 8 weeks. In that time we resolved 1 issue, posted high quality questions to github discussions, and built a custom project from scratch. The project we built uses a Pokemon API.

What challenges did you encounter?

Our hardest challenges revolved around setting up the project, especially in production mode. We all used different systems (windows 10, 11, and a mac) and that made it difficult to reproduce issues. By the end, we were able to all set up the local and production builds in order to reproduce the issue. Codeday was particularly helpful with their tutoring sessions and guided us to reinstalling different versions. One of our members had to revise the build instructions for Mac and submitted a pull request to update the documentation.
