Gamble Run

run... gamnlllllbll.

How much experience does your group have? Does the project use anything (art, music, starter kits) you didn't create?

The only thing our group had was mild experience in Scratch coding prior to starting the CodeDay project. This allowed us to have a headstart in knowledge when it comes to the inner workings going into the creation of the project. The art was derived from other sources, with the exception of a few sprites such as the player character or the background, however the art that was taken was reinterpreted to have its own creative flair rather than just being stolen.

What challenges did you encounter?

Initially, we encountered many challenges, such as learning how to code in GameMaker. The original plan was to have the game be created entirely inside GameMaker, but the program proved too unfriendly for beginners, and we were unable to make significant progress in the game. Eventually, we switched to a more beginner friendly alternative, that being Scratch. We also faced other challenges such as having to balance our creative vision with reasonably completing the game within the time limit and game presentation concerns such as art style. We also faced minor teamwork difficulties.
